June 22—July 15: 33 Variations — A play that powerfully deals with human spirituality, filled with humor and pathos, accompanied by spectacular visual effects and a classical pianist, on stage, playing excerpts from Beethoven's sublime ‘33 Variations.’ Directed by Richard Camp.
September 7—October 7: Man of La Mancha — This 50-year-old musical still resonates today, contrasting captivity versus freedom; love versus violence; and hope versus death. Director Marty Babayco and star Scott White promise to take audiences through the madness that mirrors the reality of the present, leaving us to “try, when our arms are too weary, to reach the unreachable star!
November 23—December 16: Cinderella — In the style of an outrageous English parody, this musical is “fast, funny, witty and completely captivates the children from start to finish.” “An intelligent and playful production of a brilliant new musical that had an opening night family audience roaring with laughter.”
December 22- December 30: The Belle of Amherst is a special holiday benefit show for The Art Center Theater. A lively, funny, and heartfelt one-woman performance that reveals the inward journeys of Emily Dickinson, one of America’s greatest poets. From the Boston Globe: "Playwright William Luce has chiseled a perfectly detailed cameo...By some interior kind of magic has avoided all the pitfalls associated with literary figures brought to life onstage. He has made Emily warm, human, loving and lovable that her ultimate vulnerability will break your heart." Starring Anna Kotula (who superbly channeled Harpo Marx in last season's "Animal Crackers").
