John Slade,
Director
|
John Slade made his
theatrical debut in the role of Wally Webb in a production
of Our Town when he was in the ninth grade.
He describes that initial role as a spiritual experience.
He describes this production, 41 years later, as his
love letter to Ojai. He cast people in this show according
to their actual professions. James Halverson, Dr.
Gibbs, is a family physician in Ojai. Jeff Bennett,
Constable Warren, is a Deputy District Attorney and
former Sacramento Police Officer. John Hankins, Editor
Webb, edits the Sierra Club newsletter and runs his
own newspaper clipping service. Douglas Day, the Stage
Manager, had a long-standing friendship with Thornton
Wilder's sister. John now teaches English and Drama
at Nordhoff High School in Ojai.
